Ivan Manolov ’05

Ivan graduated from Williams with a triple major in Economics, Mathematics, and German Studies. He spent the next two years in New York City as a crude oil options trader with Deutsche Bank.

His responsibilities included pricing various option structures based on crude oil and the products that are made out of it, helping to manage the risk of a global option portfolio, and communicating with salespeople and structurers. This was a valuable experience for Ivan, because it taught him discipline, gave him an excellent introduction to finance, and allowed him to experience the thrill of working on the trading floor of a major investment bank.

In the fall of 2007, he enrolled into Princeton University to pursue a graduate degree in Public Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School. He has enjoyed the program so far, and has taken courses both in the field of Political Science (such as Comparative Politics and EU Integration) and in the field of Economics (Microeconomic Theory and Econometrics).
