There are efforts underway across the country to ensure that as a group, doctors reflect the diversity of the entire society. At this point, schools pay particular attention to applicants from groups considered underrepresented in medicine (URM). In some cases, non-resident URM candidates are treated as in-state applicants for the purpose of diversifying a class. Go here for more information.
